Where Do You Buy Your Supplements?August 3, 2010 on 9:11 pm | In Supplements | No CommentsWhere Do You Buy Your Supplements? I find it ironic that many people spend more on their cars then on their own bodies. Your body is infinitely more valuable than your car, and yet the investment into finding the best “fuel” for your “engine” is often ignored. Hopefully I can shed some light on this rather confusing subject. 1. Just like there are different makes and models of cars, there is also a wide range of quality, purity, and potency in supplements including raw materials of nutrients, manufacturing, testing, and more. You wouldn’t take a $50,000 vehicle and replace new with some used rusted parts. How much more valuable is your body? 2. The FDA does not regulate the supplement industry. Therefore, manufacturers who are not GMP NSF Certified, do not conduct verifiable independent testing pre and post production should be a major concern for you. Stick with companies that are professional brand only available through knowledgeable health professionals who study this for a living. 3. Even if you find a high quality supplement, how do you know which your body requires? You are unique so why should your supplement schedule be the same as everyone else? Find someone you trust that has access to order the specific metabolic nutritional testing not traditionally covered by insurance that will reveal the scientific results to more energy, better sleep, healthy digestion, a bigger brain and more. I’m sure you could think of many more reasons. So, take a look at the video of Designs for Health and let me know what you think of their approach to health. Toxic Chemicals Are Healthy For YouJuly 13, 2010 on 6:03 pm | In Cancer, Chemical, Infertility, Toxins | No CommentsToxic Chemicals Are Healthy For You Did you like the video? I find it interesting that these organizations like Safer Chemicals are resorting to cartoons to try to dissuade the public from using chemicals that are not proven to be dangerous at all. I mean, it makes complete sense. Our bodies were designed to withstand even the harshest of wastes, chemicals, pollution and more. I can’t believe these organizations like Safer Chemicals try to promote this hype that these toxic chemicals harm. I am sure you the public can see right through their motives. Really, only the big chemical companies are on your side. They have what seems like unlimited resources and you can trust they will only put out products that are in your best interest. This has been proven over and over by their increased profits and years they’ve been in business. So let’s send a message to organizations like Safer Chemical that they don’t know what they are talking about and all of the hype about birth defects, cancers and other problems they purport is completely ludicrous in relation to you or your family. Your thoughts always appreciated… Tax Revenue More Important Than Your HealthJune 15, 2010 on 11:41 pm | In Cancer, Smoking | No Comments
Tax Revenue More Important Than Your Health Filthy, dirty, gross, disgusting and unhealthy. Maybe some of these words come to mind when you think of smoking. With over 4000 toxins in cigarettes, do you know what’s more dangerous than smoking? How about inhaling second hand smoke. Here’s the problem with smoking and it’s not so much those of you who choose to smoke. It’s the second hand smoke that harms those of you who choose not to smoke. Second hand smoke is an invasion of air space. It’s totally a violation of your right to not inhale something that is totally controllable. For example, I was in a public shower tonight and I could actually smell the smoke inside the building even though the window was closed. I also don’t believe in taking away free will for those of you who want to be unhealthy. So a really wise inventor decided to provide the same addictive substance without the harmful second hand smoke. It’s called the e-cigarette. The vapor is actually changed so it is not harmful second hand smoke to you. I wonder if the reason why this has not been publicized or FDA sponsored is because of the amount of revenue second hand smoke creates for our health care system. What do you think? Eat Healthy In Or OutJune 6, 2010 on 10:18 pm | In Cookware, Eat Out, Gluten-Free | No CommentsEat Healthy In Or Out Eat In There are a few things to keep in mind when eating at home: 1. Cook the right way. Steam, stir-fry, broil, boil, or bake- Each of these methods helps to maximize nutrient absorption and the healthiest by far. In the video example, you can steam an entire meal including your protein, vegetables, and whole grains. This is so much better than processed foods or microwaving which defuses the nutrients. 2. Cook with the right equipment. Use stainless steel, cast iron, or glass- Stainless steel is a great choice because it looks great, heats up quickly on low or medium and is relatively easy to clean. Cast iron is good for boiling or broiling, non-toxic, adds excellent flavor, and provides a natural source of iron. Glass or ceramic is great for boiling, broiling or baking. 3. Cook with the right food. Choose organic, non-processed, artificial-free foods. If possible try to get your foods as close to home as possible. In other words, check with a local farm, co-op or CSA. Some products like brown rice for example are not as critical to buy local. Any vegetables or fruits or grass fed meats are always best to purchase locally. Eat Out There are a few things to keep in mind when eating out: 1. Support eateries that use fresh local real food. Preferably organic but local is better than other forms of conventional food. Normally these restaurants are locally owned and operated. This is the kind of place where the food is made fresh with many herbs, spices, and no additives, preservatives, or toxic sugar substitutes such as Splenda. 2. Stay away from processed and allergenic foods. Some of easiest processed foods to recognize are white rice, white bread, and white anything. Don’t be fooled by foods that use whole wheat too. Wheat contains a protein called gluten that causes many autoimmune reactions. Gluten-free grains such as brown rice, millet, buckwheat or preferably grain-free flours such as coconut or almond are much better choices. 3. Eat balanced portions of all of the macronutrients. Don’t get caught up in diet this or diet that. The healthiest people eat balanced meals containing complete proteins such as organic chicken or turkey, healthy fats such as olive or coconut oil, and slow releasing carbohydrates such as brown rice. When you eat unbalanced you throw your metabolism, gut, hormone, and brain chemistry off balance. Choosing the right foods when out to eat will help re-balance your body. How do you choose healthy foods at home or out on the town? Harmful Body ScannersJune 2, 2010 on 7:25 pm | In Cancer, Immune system, Radiation, Vitamin C | No CommentsHarmful Body Scanners Recently the media reported that full body scanners deployed in major airports may produce dangerous levels of radiation for those scanned. University of California, San Fransisco describes the short burst of high energy radiation is enough to raise the risk of cancer and depress the immune system. Some argue that the levels of radiation are comparable to a few minutes of flying time, but what is that theory based on? If we wait for 5 or 10 years for a study to confirm that focused radiation causes cancer, it make be too late. I’m sure there are much safer ways of promoting security without increasing the risks of health. So in the meantime, here are few things you can do when traveling: 1. Request not to be scanned! Not only is the scan invasive of your privacy but it exposes you to high levels of radiation. You have the right to request a pat down and search. 2. Drink plenty of water along with fiber found in fruits such as apples, pears, or bananas for example. These are much easier to travel compared to other fruits and they are very satisfying. 3. Drive or take a train. Yes this may be much less convenient or time inefficient but if you have the time try the scenic route. You might enjoy a peaceful train ride through beautiful country or exiting cities. 4. Take some immune boosting nutrients such as Vitamin C and other specialized immune supporting nutrients. 5. Get some exercise by walking, rebounding, or strength bands before your trip. You will reduce negative stress associated with travel and relax. What are some other ways you can build your immune system? Sources: Greens GaloreMay 28, 2010 on 10:11 pm | In Local Food, Organic Food | No CommentsGreens Galore My wife and I signed up for a local CSA or community supported agriculture. This is not just any CSA. The CSA we joined is sustainable agriculture and biodynamic farming which is actually way beyond organic. The local farm is certified organic according to the USDA, but biodynamic in that the farm: -Made sure the ground had not been touched with pesticides, fertilizers, herbicides and more for longer than just a few years. USDA only requires 3 years of no chemicals before they will certify a farm.’ -Uses everything they can either on the farm or to support the longevity of the local environment. -Chills produce prior to pickup so you receive the freshest nutrition, which heightens the vitamin and mineral content. -Adds soil-enhancing nutrition to fully bring out the best of the herbs and plants. -Is guaranteed that they can keep producing this high quality nourishment for you and your family. You are voting with your pocketbook to support this food. Nutritionally speaking, joining a local organic CSA or co-op is about the best thing you can do for your body. You can steam, juice, light stir-fry or eat the greens and vegetables completely raw. There are so many healing properties that if you just did this one thing this year, you would experience great improvement in your health. For example, your body may be overloaded with toxins causing your organs to not function properly. With this food, you are receiving bountiful digestive enzymes without having to pop pills. You will also get the most nutrient dense food without added calories. For example the calorie content of kale is minimal. Yet kale provides one of the highest amounts of nutrition of any food. You want to focus on foods that provide the most nutrition with the fewest calories. This will naturally cause you to burn more fat and build more muscle and be less hungry because your cells are being fed appropriately. So go ahead and take the plunge and invest in your local community agriculture. This is the kind of shift we need in this country-back to local. How else can we get everyone participating in buy local and buy fresh? Wellness Is Financially WiseMay 25, 2010 on 10:18 pm | In Anti-Aging, wellness | No CommentsWellness Is Financially Wise Did you know your body is designed to last about 120 years disease free? That’s right in the thousands of years since the beginning of time bodies haven’t changed much. The same issues they struggled with back then are not much different. And one other thing hasn’t changed; someday you will get old and die. What are you doing to prepare for this aging process? If you were like me when I was in my 20’s, I didn’t think too much about it. But now, I am constantly pondering anti-aging ever day. Check out some of what you have or eventually will deal with as you age: -Increased medical issues -Higher risk for landing in a hospital -Higher risk for injury -Need for more expensive treatments for chronic conditions If you are young right now, if you do not invest in your health, you will later pay a high price. If you are middle age, it is imperative for you to do everything you can to incorporate anti-aging strategies. If you are elderly, you can still benefit from things like exercise, nutrition, and an overall healthy lifestyle. Any way you look at it, wellness is financially smart. So smart that it may save you thousands, hundreds of thousands and if longevity keeps increasing as is the trend, even millions in older age. Here are some revealing statistics: -According to a survey of assisted living by MetLife, it cost about $70,000 per year for a semi-private accommodations in a nursing home. -Medicare will only cover a small percentage of long term care needs (about 18%). Even with insurance, you will still have to finance some portion of health care costs from other resources. Remember, insurance does not cover prevention and wellness services. You may be in the process of working your whole life to save up a nice nest egg, but if you do not start now to address your lifestyle, you will end up spending much of it for very expensive treatments, surgeries, and diseases later. If you invest in your health bank account right now, you will reap so many rewards later, not to mention saving a whole lot of money. Just imagine if at 47, 67 or even 97 you have vitality and do not have the pains, sickness, disease that plagues so many. If you are already experiencing these symptoms, the good news is there is hope for you too. You can alleviate and even reverse some of the aging process by getting on a personalized wellness program. It’s never too late to start, so take some action for the health of your body and pocketbook. Sources: MetLife Survey Results Avg. Assisted Living Cost $70,000 Per Year The Most Dangerous FoodMay 23, 2010 on 5:10 pm | In GMO, Herbicides, Pesticides | No Comments
The Most Dangerous Food There seems to be a trend of modifying foods and placing them on every isle in grocery store. Go to the center isles where all of the processed and boxed foods reside and you will probably notice modified forms of soy, corn, and wheat. These three alone account for a tremendous amount of autoimmune conditions, food intolerance, allergies, fatigue, weight gain, and much more. Go off of that stuff for a few months and watch what happens to your energy levels, joints, and digestion. The movement away from the way food is intended to grow is very destructive. Mice fed modified food stuff have degenerative and generational abnormal affects compared to mice fed non-GMO food. Furthermore, the GMO laden food stuff more readily has higher herbicide/pesticide count. Why is it that the testes of those mice changed from normal pink to blue on the modified diet? Not to mention the very cells were abstractly different. That is enough to convince you, especially you men, to avoid GMO. Stick with foods that are found in nature without any alterations. Sometimes it is difficult to know whether or not a packaged product has been modified, so make sure you identify it as non-GMO on the label. If it’s not on the label, check with your local farmers and retailers to find out how and where they are producing and sourcing the foods they sell. How are you protecting yourself from GMOs? President’s Report Reveals Insight To Cancer I am amazed. In fact, I am beyond amazed at how the human body is able to withstand such an onslaught of environmental stresses and still live. Even with the body’s defense system, the collaboration of pollutants from multiple sources has overloaded our God-given design. So how much more evidence do you need regarding the manifold problems associated with environmental toxins? The President’s Council Cancer April 2010 released Annual Report details 240 pages of overwhelming evidence that our modernized society has created a monster of environmental disruption. This is one of the most comprehensive and evidence based reports about the abuses of chemicals, pesticides, herbicides, radiation, fertilizers, plastics, water, food, air and more. You might think, what does it matter if you haven’t experienced any health problems. You may think you haven’t but underlying many conditions are the real culprits to your health problems. Environmental toxins alter the delicate balance of the endocrine system and cause a myriad of hormonal disruptions. Thlalates for example are in many plastic bottles, containers, or even pacifiers. Instead of using our ingenuity to create products that promote health, we have deleteriously omitted sound wisdom for the sake of convenience. The next generation will pay the price for ignorance unless we start to change our views of promoting products that align with the natural laws created in the earth. How can we start to positively impact the environment, food, and other products that promote health and decrease risk of disease? Most of you probably know that it’s so important to move on a daily basis. You need both cardiovascular and strength training movement to receive the full benefits. Unfortunately some injuries prevent certain types of activity that truly benefit the entire body. Although rebounding is a great exercise, you still have to do the bounce. But what if there were an exercise where you really didn’t have to do anything? Well, now there is. After a recent visit to a Chiropractic Trade Show I had the privilege of trying out the most amazing device. It’s called the Zen Pro and although I think the name could use a little tweak, the vibrations of this machine are incredible. While demonstrating the unit at a standstill I felt tremendous movement throughout my entire body. The Pro is also very effective in that it does not require a lot of time. So amazing you can get a workout in just a few minutes. Remember, the best part is you don’t have to generate the movement on your own unlike other devices. Just stand still and hold. The Pro will tone muscle, which helps to melt fat. Other benefits include lymph drainage and flexibility. What have you found to be most effective at burning fat and building muscle? Next Page » |
